Privacy Policy

When you create an account, we collect your email address, chosen username, and an internal account ID. We use this information to create and secure your Koments account, maintain your session, provide account recovery, and communicate with you about the service.

You may upload a profile picture. It is stored on our hosting infrastructure and shown next to your username, comments, and profile. When account deletion is available, the app will explain what happens to the image and will not report deletion as complete unless the required account and file-removal steps succeed.

We store the content you create and your social activity: comments and replies (including any timestamp, spoiler flag, and attached GIFs), likes, follows and friend connections, users you block, and reports you submit. Comments you post are visible to other users of the app together with your username and profile picture.

We process your in-app activity — such as titles you search for, pages you open, and feature usage — to make the app work (for example remembering your feed position) and to understand and improve how Koments is used.

The Pause Scan feature captures an image of your paused TV or streaming screen on your device and uses text recognition to read the visible title and playback time. The recognized text (not your camera roll) is processed to match the show or movie and derive a timestamp so we can open the right comment thread. We store the recognized text, derived title/timestamp match, device model, and related diagnostics to improve matching accuracy. Scan captures are tied to your account when you are signed in.

If you subscribe to Koments Pro through the App Store, the purchase is processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment card details. We receive and store transaction and entitlement information (such as product, purchase status, and expiration) to provide your subscription benefits across devices. Deleting your Koments account does not cancel Apple-managed billing and does not automatically produce a refund. Subscriptions and refund requests must be managed separately through Apple.

We use service providers to operate Koments: hosting and database infrastructure (Base44), The Movie Database (TMDB) for title metadata, GIPHY for GIF search, Google Cloud Vision for Pause Scan text recognition, and Apple for App Store purchases. These providers process data only as needed to provide their services to us.

Account deletion is temporarily unavailable while we verify secure identity removal, session revocation, and stored-file handling. The app will clearly say when no deletion has occurred. Once available and successfully completed, deletion removes the account record; email, username, profile-picture reference, preferences, badges, social relationships, likes, notifications, scan records, feedback, and other account-linked records. Comments, replies, GIFs, timestamps, and other content you authored are permanently deleted. If another person replied to a deleted comment, we retain only a neutral “Comment deleted.” placeholder so their reply remains understandable; it has no profile, username, avatar, badge, original text, media attachment, or original timestamp.

Account-linked moderation reports are deleted; a moderator identity on unrelated resolved reports is replaced with “deleted.” Koments retains no account-linked moderation record after deletion. A neutral comment tombstone is kept only for as long as replies by other users remain. Apple and other payment providers may independently retain transaction, security, and fraud-prevention records under their own legally required retention periods; those records are not publicly accessible through Koments and cannot be used to reconstruct a Koments profile.

We protect your information with industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and authenticated APIs. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data appropriately.

Koments is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date, and for material changes we will notify you in the app.
